Arrhythmia Detection

Heart Rhythm Monitoring

Including Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCT), Holter Monitoring, and Event Monitors. These monitors provide advanced, remote cardiac monitoring designed for continuous, high-quality heart health data, no matter where you are. Lightweight, wearable sensors continuously track your heart's rhythm, detect potential issues like arrhythmias, and send real-time data to your healthcare team.

Why heart rhythm monitoring

A standard ECG captures a snapshot of your heart rhythm during a brief office visit. Many arrhythmias, however, do not appear on command.

Palpitations, episodes of racing or skipped beats, unexplained dizziness, and the search for atrial fibrillation often require longer monitoring to make a diagnosis. Heart rhythm monitors capture your rhythm continuously, or on demand when symptoms occur, giving your cardiologist the data needed to identify what is happening and plan appropriate treatment..

Monitoring options

Your cardiologist will recommend the type of monitoring that best fits your symptoms and clinical needs.

Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCT)

A wearable sensor that continuously records your heart rhythm and transmits data in real time to a monitoring center. The care team is alerted to significant findings as they happen. Typically worn for 7 to 30 days.

Holter monitor

A portable device worn for 24 to 48 hours that continuously records every heartbeat during that period. Useful for identifying arrhythmias that occur frequently.

Event monitor

A patient-activated device worn for an extended period (often up to 30 days). The patient triggers a recording when symptoms occur. Useful for infrequent symptoms that are hard to catch during continuous monitoring.

What to expect

Your cardiologist will recommend the type of monitoring that best fits your symptoms and clinical needs.

Duration

The initial fitting appointment takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. The monitor itself is worn for days to weeks depending on the type.

During wear

The sensor is comfortable and designed to be worn during normal daily activities, including light exercise. Most monitors are water-resistant for showering, though some require removal for bathing.

Keeping a symptom log

You will be asked to note symptoms, their timing, and what you were doing when they occurred. This context helps your cardiologist correlate your symptoms with rhythm changes on the recording.

After the test

The recording is analyzed and reviewed by your Lown Group cardiologist. Findings are discussed with you along with any recommended next steps.

All testing, labs, and clinical services are billed to insurance and not included in the membership fee.
