A different kind of cardiology practice
Traditional cardiology is often shaped around volume. Visits are brief, follow-up is fragmented, and your cardiologist is reachable only through the office line during business hours.
The Lown Group was built on a different premise. By intentionally limiting the size of our practice, our cardiologists have the time to understand your cardiovascular history in depth, coordinate your care across specialists, and remain available to you directly when you need them, including after hours by cell phone or email.
Members join through a comprehensive onboarding process. Together, we develop an individualized plan that reflects your personal risk profile, your history, and your goals.
What membership-based cardiology includes
The clinical foundation of your Cardiology membership covers the full range of cardiovascular assessment, management, and ongoing monitoring.
Cardiovascular risk assessment and prevention
Comprehensive evaluation of your personal risk profile, including family history, lifestyle factors, and clinical markers. Prevention plans tailored to your biology, not a general template.
Management of acute and chronic cardiac conditions
From hypertension and arrhythmia to coronary artery disease and valvular conditions, your cardiologist coordinates diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management with Brigham and Women's and the broader MGB network.
Heart health monitoring
Ongoing assessment of your cardiovascular health over time, with proactive adjustments to your plan as your biology, medications, or circumstances change.
Direct, unhurried communication
Reach your cardiologist directly by phone, text, email, paging, or through Patient Gateway. During business hours you will connect quickly; after hours, your physician's personal cell phone is available for urgent concerns.
On-site cardiovascular testing
Our fully accredited testing facility is on site. For most assessments, you will not need to travel to a separate location.
Echocardiogram
Ultrasound evaluation of the heart's structure and function.
Stress Echocardiogram
Assessment of cardiac function under exercise or pharmacological stress.
Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET)
Comprehensive measurement of cardiovascular and pulmonary performance including VO2 max.
Body Composition Analysis
Precise measurement to inform cardiovascular and metabolic health decisions.
On-site Phlebotomy
Blood draws performed on site at the time of your visit.
All testing, labs, and clinical services are billed to insurance and not included in the membership fee.
Your care team
Beyond your cardiologist, a dedicated team supports your care.
Your Cardiologist
A Brigham-and-Women's-affiliated cardiologist with whom you develop an enduring clinical relationship.
Advanced Practice Provider
A Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate with deep expertise in preventive care, diagnostics, and wellness.
Medical Assistant
Dedicated support for clinical workflow, test coordination, and follow-up continuity.
Practice Coordinator
Your point of contact for scheduling, membership questions, and connecting you with other members of your care team.
Combined Care: cardiology and primary care, coordinated
Many of our members hold both a Cardiology and a Primary Care membership. The two work together seamlessly.
Your cardiologist focuses on cardiovascular issues while your Primary Care physician addresses general health. Because both practice within the same group and share the same EPIC medical record system, your plans are coordinated rather than parallel. For specialist consultations beyond our practice, your care team draws on established relationships at Brigham and Women's and across Mass General Brigham to connect you to the right expertise promptly.
Whether at The Lown Group or in the community, our professional relationships help connect patients with highly regarded specialists when additional expertise is needed.
