Exercise and Stress Testing
Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT)
Stress tests check for abnormal blood flow to the heart due to blocked heart arteries and evaluate the heart's response to exercise. The most common type of stress test involves walking on a treadmill to increase heart rate and blood pressure. Stress tests provide information that may not be apparent on a resting electrocardiogram, and results may help explain symptoms you have reported to your physician.

What ETT shows
A resting ECG captures the heart at rest. The ETT captures how it behaves when working harder.
Your cardiologist may recommend an ETT to evaluate chest pain with exertion, assess exercise capacity, screen for coronary artery disease, or help guide a safe return to physical activity after a cardiac event..
What to expect
Duration
ETTs are booked for 1 hour.
Preparation
Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Your care team will advise on any medications that may need to be adjusted.
During the test
You walk on a treadmill while cardiac rhythm is monitored continuously. The treadmill speed and incline increase in stages to progressively work the heart.
After the test
Your ordering Lown Group provider reviews the results in full detail with you, in the context of your overall cardiovascular care.
*All testing, labs, and clinical services are billed to insurance and not included in the membership fee.
