Health & Fitness Assessment
Body Composition Analysis
An InBody scan uses multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis to measure body composition including fat mass, fat-free mass, skeletal muscle mass, body water, and body fat percentage. Available exclusively to members alongside Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) testing.

Beyond the scale
Body weight tells you a single number. Body composition tells you what that number is made of, and that distinction has real clinical significance.
Two people at identical weights can have dramatically different cardiovascular risk profiles depending on their ratio of lean mass to fat mass, where fat is distributed, and how much skeletal muscle they carry. For older adults, maintaining lean muscle mass is one of the strongest predictors of healthy aging. For patients being evaluated for metabolic conditions, body composition clarifies what the scale alone cannot..
InBody Scan
MEMBERS ONLY
Uses multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis to measure fat mass, fat-free mass, skeletal muscle mass, body water, and body fat percentage.
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
MEMBERS ONLY
A non-invasive test that measures how many calories your body burns at rest. When you are active, you burn more calories than your BMR.
For bone density and visceral fat measurement, see DEXA Scan.
What it informs
Cardiovascular risk assessment
Body composition contributes to a more complete picture of cardiovascular risk than BMI alone, particularly for patients with normal weight but elevated visceral fat.
Metabolic health planning
For patients with pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, or metabolic syndrome, body composition data guides lifestyle and medical interventions.
Strength and fitness baseline
Combined with CPET and strength assessment, body composition provides a precise baseline for exercise prescription and progress tracking.
Healthy aging
Tracking lean mass over time helps identify sarcopenia early and guide interventions that preserve muscle, function, and independence.
What to expect
Body composition analysis is quick, non-invasive, and painless. Your results are reviewed with your Lown Group physician and incorporated into your overall care plan. For members pursuing specific wellness goals, our exercise physiology team can help translate the findings into actionable strength and nutrition recommendations.
All testing, labs, and clinical services are billed to insurance and not included in the membership fee.
