Nadaa Ali, M.D., M.Ed

(Joining Lown Group in February 2026)

Nadaa B. Ali, MD, M.Ed graduated from Tulane University’s School of Medicine in 2011. Dr. Ali completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Primary Care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She was awarded the Karen Kaufman Memorial Book award for compassionate care and teamwork in primary care. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Ali completed a fellowship in Medical Education at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She has a master’s degree in education from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and is an instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ali continues to teach both medical students and residents.


Prior to joining the Lown Group, Dr. Ali was working as a primary care physician at Atrius Health in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where she received the Patient Choice Award for high patient satisfaction ratings. Her clinical interests include preventive health care, weight management, diabetes, hypertension, stress management, and women’s health.


Dr. Ali grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She first moved to Boston after Hurricane Katrina and returned years later for her medical training. Dr. Ali lives with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys walking and running outdoors, Bollywood dancing, and travel.

Joel T. Katz, M.D., M.A.C.P

Joel T. Katz, M.D., M.A.C.P graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine receiving both MD and MA (biomedical illustration) degrees. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and fellowship at the Harvard Longwood infectious diseases fellowship program. He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Dr. Katz has been practicing primary care since 1997, over which period he has been named to the list of “Boston’s Best Doctors” numerous times. He joined the Lown Medical Group as their inaugural primary care physician in 2024.


Administratively, Dr. Katz is the Senior Vice President for Education and the Designated Institutional Official at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Katz enjoys watercolor and oil painting, visiting art museums, and camping throughout New England with his wife and three adult children.

She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School. Since joining Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2004, Dr. Kaufman has developed a passion for women’s health and has dedicated her career to providing comprehensive care for women and their families.


She values the long-term relationships she has built with her patients and enjoys advocating for them and working together to achieve their goals. Dr. Kaufman is actively involved in medical education and has been recognized multiple times on the “Boston’s Best Doctors” list.


Dr. Kaufman’s professional interests include preventative care, chronic disease management, menopause, and mental health. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, going for walks with her poodle, and cheering on the Boston Celtics or the Michigan Wolverines.

Lilian S. Mahrokhian, M.D.

Lilian S. Mahrokhian, MD, graduated from the Tufts University School of Medicine and completed her residency and internship in internal medicine at Tufts-New England Medical Center. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and an Assistant Professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She began her clinical practice at Faulkner Hospital (now Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital), where she was recruited to begin a primary care practice within the diverse community of Hyde Park. There, she helped transform an urgent care walk-in clinic to a robust primary care practice, effectively educating patients on the benefits of preventive screening and chronic disease management. As the only female practitioner, she developed a predominantly female patient population and quickly recognized her affinity for women’s health. In 2009 she became part of the primary care team at the Fish Center for Women’s Health, where she continued to pursue her passion for providing high quality, comprehensive women’s healthcare. She joined the Lown Medical Group in 2025.


Dr. Mahrokhian’s interests include preventive health, women’s health and Lifestyle Medicine for exercise, nutrition, sleep, and stress management. She enjoys staying active and spending time with her three kids.

Harley A. Simeone, M.D.

Clinical Director of Primary Care

Harley A. Simeone, MD, graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2007. She trained in Internal Medicine at Tufts Medical Center and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. An Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, she has been actively involved in medical education throughout her 15 years as a primary care physician. She incorporates wellness and personalized medical plans into her preventative and problem-based patient care. She joined the Lown Medical Group in 2025.


Dr. Simeone’s professional interests include comprehensive preventative care, GI health, and using nutrition and exercise as medicine. She enjoys spending time with her three children, husband, and extended family and can often be found on the sidelines of soccer and baseball fields, regardless of weather. She stays active with hiking, skiing and strength training, and also loves traveling, cooking, and music, as well as cheering on Boston sports teams.

The Lown Group is closely affiliated with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Our Board-Certified physicians hold teaching positions at Harvard Medical School and faculty appointments at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In the event of hospitalization or invasive procedures, we will make every effort to admit our patients to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where our physicians will see hospitalized patients daily to provide continuity between the hospital and clinical setting.
